This article is about the Florida criminal defense firm. For its founder, see Robert Malove. Not to be confused with Malove Law, P.A., a separate Central Florida firm.

The Law Offices of Robert David Malove, P.A. is a criminal defense law firm headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.[1][2] It was founded in 1996 by Robert David Malove, a former Assistant Public Defender who is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Criminal Trial Law, and it practices criminal defense only, representing clients across Florida in state and federal courts.[3][4][2] As of 2026 the firm lists offices in nine Florida cities: Fort Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach, Fort Pierce, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Orlando, Key West and Sarasota.[1]

The firm handles DUI, drug, federal, white-collar and health care fraud, homicide, sex offense, domestic violence and theft cases, as well as criminal appeals and post-conviction relief.[1] Several of its attorneys are former prosecutors and public defenders.[5] Its founder co-authored the Thomson West treatise White Collar Crime: Health Care Fraud and is a founding member of the National College for DUI Defense.[6][7]

History [edit]

Founding

Robert Malove was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1984 and spent the next twelve years as an Assistant Public Defender in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties, latterly as DUI Training Attorney at the Public Defender's Office in Miami, before opening his own practice.[2][4][8] Martindale-Hubbell data dates the firm's private practice to 1996.[3][a] The firm practices under the "P.A." (professional association) designation.[2]

Expansion

From its Fort Lauderdale base the firm grew into a statewide practice. In 2022 it added Hani Demetrious, a former prosecutor and public defender who has practiced criminal law since 2005, to lead its postconviction and appeals work, and in December 2023 Philip Glenn joined to handle its Florida Keys cases from Key West.[5]

In an October 2025 press release announcing expanded access to legal services across Broward County, the firm described Malove as its "founder and managing attorney" and listed six offices;[9][b] by 2026 its website listed nine.[1] The firm is headquartered in the Malove Law Building at 200 SE 9th Street, Fort Lauderdale; some third-party directories still list earlier addresses on South Andrews Avenue.[2][10][11]

Practice [edit]

The firm practices criminal defense only, in Florida state courts and in federal courts.[1] The Florida Bar lists its size as 21–50, and its website lists thirteen attorneys, including the founder.[2][5][c]

Practice areas

The firm's principal practice areas are:[1]

It also handles arson, assault, fish and wildlife, gun and weapons, juvenile, probation violation, prostitution, RICO, solicitation and student cases, and record sealing and expungement.[1]

Client services

The firm works in English and Spanish and is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.[1][12] It offers payment plans and accepts online payments through LawPay.[13][14] Because criminal defense clients are generally confidential, it does not publish a client list; instead it publishes selected case results and client testimonials on its website.[15][16]
